![]() She was preceded in death by both fathers, her mother (May 2018), and both her two husbands (1970 and November 12, 2018). Altogether, Chia has nine children, four boys and five girls. Together, Chia and Vang have four children, 2 boys and 2 girls. However, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was the home they had been searching for and continued to reside until they took their last breaths. They journeyed with their children from the jungles of Laos to the safety of Thailand, and eventually to Chicago, Illinois, during the winter of 1978. When the Vietnam War broke out in 1975, their peaceful and serene life was interrupted. In keeping her family together, Chia married Tooj Ntxov Yang's next of kin, Vang Yang, a bachelor at the time and a farmer by trade. After having achieved Commander's rank in the military, Tooj Ntxov Yang was killed in action, leaving Chia and her five children fatherless. They had five children together, 2 boys and 3 girls. At marrying age, Chia married her cousin, Tooj Ntxov Yang, who was serving his country in the military. Thus, Chia became the eldest of seven children born to Chong Neng Xiong and Ying Yang: 5 boys and 2 girls. After the passing of her birth father, Kai Thao, shortly after her birth, it was Chong Neng Xiong who married her mother and raised Chia as his daughter.
